Crimes in the medieval time period weren't that much different to those committed today. Some of the crimes included; sealing,treason,murder, kid napping, and disobeying the 10 commandments. Although some of the crimes were different to the 21 st century. Crimes like witchcraft, working on a Sunday, dressing like a noble if you weren't and even not cooking bread to the right height! Not all of these crime were punishable by death but if you were sentenced you death you would experience a painful death.
Forms of Punishment and Jail
The people of medieval times are famous for their torture and punishment methods. Crimes were punishable by ripping out limbs, teeth and cutting off other body parts, This was just for minor punishments, if you committed a crime like murder or treason you would face the King's Court, This court trialled by ordeal (extremely serve test). You could face ordeal by combat which meant you would fight to death with the person who accused you. Ordeal by water meant you had your hands and feet tied together and you would be thrown into the water, if you floated you were guilty and if you sunk you were innocent.This was the unfair est and stupidest form of ordeal. Finally, ordeal by fire which was when you had to hold a red hot iron bar for 30 seconds or so. The wound from the bar would be bandaged. After 3 days if the wound had begun to heal they were innocent and if it wasn't showing any signs of healing they were found guilty.

The torture devices ensured that the person being charger would die a painful and mostly slow death.After criminal went to court some were sentenced to time in prison .The prisoners held within were tortured as a form of punishment and interrogation.
